GENERAL RULES:

  1. Swanfish is a catch, click and release only event (any mulloway over 80cm can be kept, as they do not release well)
  2. All competitors will fish within all relevant rules and regulations as defined by the Western Australian Department of Fisheries.
  3. Only REGISTERED Swanfish 2019 participants holding a Swanfish 2019 registration receipt number will be eligible for any prize.
  4. No single fish shall be eligible for inclusion in more than one prize category.

PRIZES and JUDGING:
Prizes will be awarded under the categories outlined in the 'prize category' table within this brochure.

Prize(s) will be awarded to the competitor submitting the photo of the single longest fish in the relevent category.

Most unusual capture will be judged by a panel as convened by the competition organisers.

The mystery tailor length will be determined at the award ceremony. Mystery Tailor prize will be awarded to the fisher submitting the photo of the fish closest to that length.

All judges decisions are final, no correspondence entered into.

"CATCH, CLICK AND RELEASE" RULES:

  1. Fish entered in Swanfish must be photographed immediately after capture in a manner by which judges can determine total length of fish. Swanfish recommends the use of a Department of Fisheries ruler, a 'brag mat' or similar device able to show the fish's length.
  2. Prizes will be based on total length of a single fish
  3. Prizes will be awarded to the competitor who catches the single longest fish in that category.
  4. Fish must be returned to the water immediately after photo is taken. (Mulloway over 80cm can be kept and brought to the weigh in, as they do not release well).
  5. See Catch, Click and Release for full instructions on submitting your catch

CODE OF CONDUCT:

  1. Swanfish expects competitors to use their discretion when it comes to releasing fish that may not survive. Whilst this is a catch and release competition, Swanfish does not endorse the release of fish that will not survive release. Fish should be kept for consumption under these circumstances
  2. All under size or unwanted fish must be returned to the water unharmed including blowfish and other such species.
  3. Under size or unwanted fish that have swallowed a hook must have the line cut at the mouth of the fish and are to be released unharmed to the water.
  4. All rubbish, bait bags, tangled line, papers etc. to be gathered and returned to the bins for collection.
  5. Swanfish participants will abide by Swan River Trust Regulations - Respect and Protect Fish Habitat, Oceans, Rivers and Streams.
